For more than a century
Josef Manner & Comp AG
has been producing sweet treats in Vienna, which are not only enjoyed by the Viennese but have brought worldwide acclaim. Founded in 1890 under the name “Chocoladenfabrik Josef Manner”, the Manner wafer is the company’s calling card. Originally brought to market in 1898 as the “Neapolitan wafer No.239”, it is now produced at two further sites outside Vienna - in Perg (Upper Austria) and Wolkersdorf (Lower Austria).
Around 750 staff employed by this family company produce a total of around 50,000 tonnes of confectionery every year: in addition to the various Manner products, delicacies under the brands Casali, Napoli, Ildefonso and Victor Schmidt are also manufactured. Revenues in 2008 rose by 5.1% to EUR 38.9 million. Exports are a key element in the company’s success, accounting for 58% of sales and going to more than 50 countries worldwide.
In Australia, Manner products are distributed by Exclusive Food Houses (contact: Mr Michael Friedman, imports@efh.com.au) and
